SPACE WARRIORS

I remember thinking when this set came out that Airfix had gone cheap and nasty by bringing out a set of science fiction figures to accompany their Military Series. I steared well clear of the set then - how was I to know Airfix were on hard times!  Now, it's another of those rarer sets and I only managed to add a box to my collection around 2000. There are two box types, as can be seen, the first one being strange in having no front window but having the front window-box layout. The figures came in grey plastic in seven poses (really great figures too, now my vision has cleared!!) and only in fourteen figure boxes. That was until their re-release in 1995 in the six figure bags. They were then moulded in silver. This set was briefly mentioned in the April 1981 Airfix Magazine as "Science Fiction figures in 1:32" which were "coming in 1981". There was no real catalogue in that year, more a brochure of new releases, and the Space Warriors were there complete with their own pretty strange artwork!
